philosophy

Web designing and websites have seen many new and exciting changes in the past few years. With the craze surrounding "Web 2.0" design, many of the principles of good web design have been lost in the transition.

These principles of clean, easy to use, and efficient web elements are what make the best web pages one can find. My designs are formed by my careful consideration of three major elements: presence, clarity, and accessibility.

Presence

Having a website is not the be-all and end-all of online advertising and presence for any company, organization or individual. Most websites on the internet are generally unnoticed and this makes sense seeing that there are over 155,000,000 websites around the world as of December 2007 and that figure is increasing by about 5.4 million new sites each month. So how can you be noticed by perspective clients? There are a variety of things that can be done, and most start with the design and layout of the webpages. The reason for this is that most people find what they want by using internet search engines such as Google.com, Yahoo.com, or Ask.com. Thus, the key to being noticed by new clients is to rank high on these search engines and have your site come up in the top search results. I can help increase your ranking through my coding and making your page more likely to be found by interested people.

Clarity:

A client's website should welcome their customers and associates into it. Once they are there they should be able to quickly browse through the site, easily finding the information that most interests them. A confused and cluttered website can frustrate its visitors and cause them to leave prematurely in confusion.

Clarity does not however mean that features must be sacrificed, and anything can be located on a site provided that there has been thought put into its location, and prominence on the site.

Accessibility / Compliancy:

What good is a site that not everyone can view? All of my sites are designed and maintained to stay within the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). By adhering to these standards I am able to assure that the widest variety of standard compliant web browsers are able to view these sites, including the most popular ones such as Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox. Only being able to see the site is not enough, I assue that each visitor to your site will see the same thing regardless of their computer specifications, and that the site will be fully functional for all of them.
